KEY MESSAGES

- Pleasant weather with seasonal temperatures and dry conditions through Monday.
- Warming up next week with medium rain chances developing by the weekend.
SHORT TERM
(Rest of today through Monday) Issued at 1125 AM CDT Sat Sep 26 2026
After a mostly scorching September, a fine fall weekend was underway.
Highs each day will reach the seasonable mid 70s to around 80. Lows will be a little on the cool side of normal with mostly lower 50s, except 40s Plateau and sheltered valleys.
The air will be quite dry and this will allow dew point to mix down into the 30s and 40s each afternoon.
A 10 mph north northeast breeze is expected each day.
The current pattern is sponsored by northerly flow between a strong low pressure system along the east coast and a ridge along the Mississippi River.
The east coast low is a Nor'easter producing lots of rain, wind, and waves from the Mid Atlantic to New England.
Here is Middle TN, surface high pressure was in place under the northerly flow.
Patches of mid level clouds were streaming down into the area, but deep blue sunny skies were seen between the clouds.
The super terrific happy pattern will persist into Monday keeping our wx dry and pleasant.
LONG TERM
(Monday Night through next Saturday) Issued at 1125 AM CDT Sat Sep 26 2026
As we get into Tuesday, the big storm in New England will start to pull off into eastern Canada opening the door for high pressure to move our way.
Afternoon temperatures will respond to this increased ridging by warming well above normal mid to late week.
Small rain chances will creep into the forecast, but I would not count on much drought relief through Friday.
The pattern through Friday looks dry for most of us and models are not consistent.
Rain chances do look much better next weekend, and some models show a widespread soaking rainfall.
But, other models do not, so we will just have to wait and see if we can look forward to some much- needed rainfall.
