SHORT TERM

Heat continues to be the main story of the forecast as a very strong 600mb high makes just a slight movement to the southwest.
Highs today will once again approach record territory for Nashville (Current record: 99 set in 1896, today's forecast: 99).
A few spots across Middle TN could surpass 100 degrees this afternoon with heat indicies in the 105-108 range.
Highs will continue to run in the upper 90s into the weekend as the center of the ridge continues a gradual shift southwest.
Very low chance for a pop up shower each day, but most spots will remain dry through the weekend.
Heat Risk levels will remain elevated with the continued heat, so be sure to check on your people and take precautions to keep yourself cool and hydrated.
Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 70s west of the Plateau where 60s will be common.
LONG TERM

The Heat Advisory currently runs through 8 PM Saturday, though an extension into Sunday is not out of the question with highs remaining in the upper 90s.
The ridge will continue pulling back west, opening the door for more widespread rain chances to re- enter the forecast next week.
Chances are ranging between 30-50% areawide.
Temperatures will cool off into the upper 80s, but will still be above normal for this time of year.
