SHORT TERM
(Tonight through Thursday Night) Issued at 1019 PM CDT Tue Sep 1 2026
Satellite imagery reveals strong high pressure that is essentially centered over Middle TN, and this will be the dominant feature for the next several days.
Hot temperatures from Tuesday will only get hotter with highs on Wednesday reaching into the upper-90s for areas west of the Plateau.
Nashville's forecast high is 99 degrees which is the record high for the date.
So there's a high chance that Nashville at least ties it. As far as outright breaking it, it's not out of the question.
NBM probabilities give about a 40-50% chance of hitting 100 degrees.
Similar conditions are expected on Thursday with temperatures again reaching into the upper-90s to near 100. A Heat Advisory is in effect for all counties due to these hot temperatures and triple digit heat indices.
LONG TERM

The high pressure continues to influence our weather pattern into Friday, but looks to migrate to the west this weekend.
This gives a little dip in the temperatures this weekend, but highs in the low to mid-90s will still be above normal for early September.
As far as rain goes, with the high moving back towards the west, that sets up northwest flow which reintroduces low rain chances this weekend and into early next week.
