Major heat risk and triple digit heat indices continue across southwest Middle Tennessee with a Heat Advisory remaining in effect until eight P.M. Sunday. SHORT TERM
(Tonight through Monday Night) Issued at 1021 PM CDT Sat Sep 5 2026
A weak disturbance is passing through the area this evening, and an unstable environment will continue to support a low chance for thunderstorms through about midnight.
Main concern will continue to be strong winds due to inverted-V soundings and plenty of DCAPE.
Once thunderstorms diminish, a calm night is then in store with just the development of patchy fog, particularly across the Plateau, to watch.
Dry conditions expected on Sunday with a little bit of a dip in the temperatures.
Look for highs in the upper-80s for the Plateau and into the mid-90s elsewhere.
Still above normal, but certainly better than the three consecutive days of triple digits that BNA has recorded.
Thanks to the drier air, heat indices will also stay below 100 with the exception being across the southwest where a Heat Advisory remains in effect through Sunday for those counties.
Temperatures cool a little bit more on Monday with highs in the mid- 80s for the Plateau and into the low-90s west of it. Most of the area remains dry, but another weak disturbance allows for low to medium storm chances across the Plateau.
LONG TERM

Unfortunately, the main story continues to be the heat.
By Tuesday, the high pressure shifts back over the southeastern US, and temperatures will warm in response.
Highs will be back in the mid- 90s Wednesday.
It won't be quite as hot and humid as what we've been experiencing lately, but it'll still be uncomfortable with temperatures that are well above normal for September.
A pattern change on Thursday brings a front into the area which increases rain chances into the weekend.
While this front drops temperatures some, it won't be as strong as you may hope for as above normal temperatures continue to be favored.
